TELL US YOUR STORY
Your account of Louisiana’s family courts, read by the Institute
Your story, in your own words
The Institute collects accounts from parents and family members who have been through Louisiana’s family courts. What you send is read by the Institute and used to document patterns for the 2027 Regular Session. Nothing you send is published without your written permission.
Write as much or as little as you want. Leave out children’s full names and anything from a sealed record. The Institute is not a law firm and does not advise on individual cases.
How your story is stored: submissions are kept in the website’s form records and sent by email to the Institute. Only the Institute reads them, unless you ask for your story to go to your officials. Your ZIP code helps the Institute understand where stories are coming from.
Sending your story to officials: if you check the third box, the Institute sends your story, with the name and contact details you gave, to your state representative, your state senator, and the Louisiana Attorney General’s office, with a short cover note from the Institute. Prefer to send it yourself? The Legislature’s Find My Legislators tool gives their email addresses, and the Attorney General’s office receives constituent email at constituentservices@ag.louisiana.gov.
The three boxes at the end ask for your permissions. None of them is required to send your story.
